The 2026 Iowa gubernatorial election will be held on November 3, 2026, to elect the governor of Iowa. Incumbent Republican governor Kim Reynolds declined to seek re-election to a third term.[1] Primary elections were held on June 2, 2026.[2]

This is the first open seat gubernatorial election in the state since 2006, which was the last gubernatorial election in Iowa won by a Democrat. This is also the first gubernatorial election in the state to be an open seat election at the same time as the concurrent Senate election since 1968.[3]

Businessman Zach Lahn won the Republican primary, defeating U.S. Representative Randy Feenstra in what was considered an upset. State Auditor Rob Sand was unopposed for the Democratic nomination.
